Mitch finds himself adrift when someone murders his husband, Darrin, right in front of him on their tenth wedding anniversary, left puzzled and distraught he carries on with his life as the police hunt for his killer. As Mitch pushes on with his life, he is left bewildered when he is approached by a man claiming to know why Darrin died but then mysteriously disappears. Six months later Mitch discovers his husband may have left a clue to the identity of his killer and the killer wants it, it will take the combined effort of the police, Mitch and his new friend Chad to piece together the puzzle before the killer strikes again.

This is a great story of mystery, recovering from a devastating loss and developing new friendships. We join this story as Mitch and Darrin celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary, we are with Mitch as he is left bewildered and devastated by the murder of Darrin in front of him and we see the grieving process as Mitch pulls his life together and moves on. But, we also see how Mitch gets pulled into a mystery that is tied to Darrin's teenage years, and he meets someone who could become more than just a friend.

I though this story was quite good, you get pulled in from the beginning and you try to puzzle out the pieces yourself, but you never quite get it as more information and clues come slowly. Mitch is a character that you empathize with as he goes through the slow progress of getting back to his life. Mitch's newest employee, Chad, is one that you watch closely as he pings your suspicion radar, but boy, you can't quite tell if he is good or bad. The mystery of the murder is quite good and I liked how it was tied into Darrin's past before he met Mitch, but, I couldn't help feeling like it was a little 'out there' when I discovered the reason for the killers sudden killing spree. I liked how the story ended though with that spark of hope for the future.

I recommend this to those who love mysteries, characters who stay strong through devastating loss, moving on with your life but never forgetting the one you lost and a glimmer of hope for love in the future with a new friendship.
